***Warning: I did not attempt to 'pick a few photos' at all! I just put them all in!***
Duncan had the chance to attend this awesome camp!
How have I not heard of it before??? It was great! He LOVED it!
I was a History Camp, focusing on the Revolutionary War. But more than that...it was about finding God's hand in the birth of our nation, and turning the boys towards God.
The kind of stuff you'd never get at school!
We picked up his uniform a few days before camp started...he was so excited!
And CUTE! Oh my! I loved his little self all dressed up!
Heading down to camp the first day.
These boys had so much fun learning.

And then having a 'battle' in the field.

The boys 12 and older got to shoot the gun with powder in it!
Everyone had to learn the 12-step process of loading and firing a gun of the day, and during battles could only 'shoot' someone after the called out the process. I was impressed with how quickly Duncan got that down!

My cute British solider.
Ronan was SO excited when we found out that Duncan would be a British solider for the week.
"I'm proud to have you representing us!", he told him.
Silly boy.

They all had the chance to throw tomahawks.

And did some team building activities.
Duncan was lucky to be paired up with someone smaller than him. Although he said the boy had to carry Duncan on the way back! Luckily the Colonel helped a bit!
On the afternoon of the last day of camp the families were invited to attend. Col. Bronson addressed us, told us a bit about what they had been learning that week. He congratulated the boys on their effort and learning, and their wonderful characters.
They did some marching, drills, and a skirmish for us.
Duncan took his role as a solider very serious.
At the end they recreated the battle of
Cowspens, where the British were tricked, surrounded and beaten.

It was great fun to watch, the boys did wonderfully.
Such a fun afternoon!

Revolutionary War History Camp 2013!
This is something we will definitely be doing again next year!
I'm told the rotate between the French & Indian War, and the Civil War as well.
Definitely well worth the time!
(I'm also very thankful to Ellen Higham for taking photos during the day and forwarding them on!)
