Special Trip with Morgan!

Let me just say that I LOVE Groupon.
I just love finding a good deal anywhere really, but love it when I find a great get-a-way on Groupon!
And I found an AMAZING deal.
A trip for 2 to a horse ranch, which included 2 nights/3 days accommodation, 4 trail rides each, and all meals included!
I knew Morgan would love it, and it was time for her and I to take a special trip!
She was beyond excited, and couldn't wait to get in the air!
(Flying over the Rocky Mountains in Colorado)

How Morgan passed the time on the flight...
 She's such a great artist.

Flying over Lake Meade....
We landed in Las Vegas, picked up our rental car, and drove 2 hours south to the ranch in Arizona.

Seeing as how we had just had a total of 18 inches of snow fall in Maryland 5 days before we left, I was most excited about the weather....
It was heaven in February!

And the Ranch and all the people there were so nice!

Morgan's first stop of course was a visit to the horses...
 she was in heaven.

That evening we had our first trail ride.
And we didn't see another person for miles.
It was great.
The first thing we were both commenting to each other actually was how wonderfully quiet it was out there on the ranch. They were MILES from anyone.
Very, very quiet.
Nice.
We ended the day with a great home-cooked meal and a beautiful Arizona sunset!

The next morning I was still on East Coat time, which made it easy to get up and watch the sunrise.
 Just BEAUTIFUL!

On our morning ride, I realized that there would probably be no photos of me horse riding on this trip, since I was the one taking all the photos!
So, I tried to take one of myself...
You can't really tell that I'm on a horse, but oh well.

Here's my shadow self riding though...

Morgan had been saying for some time that she was wanting to see a Big Sky...
 She said this definitely counted!

This is how we knew when it was time to eat...
We had fun coming in when we heard the bell.

While on a walk exploring a bit in the afternoon, we came across a slithery friend...
He might of been more afraid of us that we of him, and quickly hurried away!

Morgan was so excited that there were dogs there as well as horses!
Double the pleasure!

The last trail ride on the day we left, I sat out.
My backside and legs were begging for a break. I certainly felt old after riding a horse so much.
Morgan of course savored that last moment on the horse!

Then we said our goodbyes, and headed back up to Las Vegas for the night.
We enjoyed the beautiful dessert on the drive up.
And also stopped to take a look at the Hoover Dam.

The Las Vegas Temple!

We checked into our hotel, then set out to see some sights in Vegas.
 The Venetian

 Caesars Palace.

Paris Las Vegas

We walked around and saw all that we wanted to see, then headed back to the hotel to rest.
We were in the room by 7:30pm!
We both decided that we preferred the peace and quiet on the ranch over the craziness of Las Vegas.
Not really someplace I need to visit again I think.

I had such a great time with my baby girl though!
So glad we got to spend these days together!!

A boys weekend...and a girls weekend

Brian came up with this fun road trip he wanted to go on.
Originally he pitched it as a 'Family road trip'.
The stops would include an air museum, a submarine, and some temples along the way.
Knowing that the girls and I would most likely not appreciate the air museum and submarine as much as the boys would, I suggested that they take a 'Guys trip'.
And the girls and I would have a long weekend at home.

There was a snow storm coming, so they ended up leaving a day early to get out ahead of the storm.
 Columbus, Ohio Temple

The US Air Force National Museum was a hit with them all I hear!
(Apparently there was something interesting over there)

 King of the snow pile!

 Louisville, KY Temple

 Indianapolis Temple under construction.

Of course, a stop at White Castle Burgers was on their list!

 Chicago, IL Temple

And yet another snow pile....these were obviously a hit.

They wanted to put their feet in Lake Michigan, BUT it was a bit too cold for that...
So, they settled on standing on the icy rocks.

 Silly boys.

 The Sears Tower in Chicago.
(Which is no longer called the Sears Tower apparently)

So, they were gone 4 1/2 days, went through 8 states, saw 4 Temples, and traveled some 2,000 miles. And surprised us by showing up at home a day early!
Crazy fast trip!

In the mean time, the girls and I enjoyed a lovely snowed in weekend!
We got just under 11 inches in within the first 24 hours of the boys leaving.

Morgan was a trooper, and my biggest helper ever!
I had 4 stitches in my leg at the time, and couldn't do any heaving lifting/work. Which included shoveling the heavy wet snow. So, she took on that task!
Thankfully our neighbor also came by with his snow blower to help out with the driveway.

The girls had a blast playing in all the snow.
Morgan even made a little snow cave for them to play in too.

We painted nails, watched girl movies, baked bread, and enjoyed a nice snow day.

And then it snowed AGAIN!
Round two brought another 7 inches!
And poor Morgan was out there shoveling again!

This time they made polar bears to live in the cave.

Since it was Valentines Day, we also baked some heart cookies to decorate.

By day 3, we were done with the snow, and ready to get out!
So grateful for my neighbor who cleared our driveway, and allowed us to get out of the house for a bit!
We met our friends at the theatre to watch the new LEGO Movie!
Such a fun movie, and great friends!

Now, if only the snow would go away for good!
